noteACCESS STATEMENT FOR FFOREST FIELDS

Fforest Fields welcomes visitors of all abilities. We do have some access issues which we are actively trying to resolve but if you telephone us we promise to be honest with what we can and cannot provide.

Fforest Fields is four miles north-west of Builth Wells on the A481. The caravan site is well signposted with brown tourist signs from the A483 North of Builth Wells and then with warning signs approximately 600 metres from the site entrance. The entrance is wide, with a cattle grid onto a farm track. There is a full size gate for non-vehicular access. The road to the campsite is compacted hardcore and well maintained.

The road at Fforest Fields is compacted and well maintained hardcore. We have re-laid several areas recently and re-profiled the road to allow for water run off.

The campsite is level or gently sloping and access to pitches is easy and there is plenty of space between them. Vehicles can be parked adjacent to the pitch and most of the pitches can support two vehicles. The hardstanding pitches are large, with space for awnings and vehicles. The surface is compacted hardcore.

The reception has a small step, the fridges and freezer units are available 24hours a day. We have milk, fresh orange juice, bacon, bread, butter and eggs available in the fridges with an honesty box system. The nearest shops are in Builth Wells.

There is one toilet block on site with a parking area in front and to the side. There are three, wide, shallow steps up to both sides of the toilet facilities, with a handrail on both sides. We have no wheelchair access at present although we are in the process of redesigning the facilities.

The ladies area has three showers and four toilets, four hand basins and a hairdryer with a mirror for customers use. The showers have a low, clearly marked, 4" step.. There is also a hand dryer.

The men's area has three showers and four toilets, four hand basins with shaving points and four urinals. There is also a hand dryer.

The laundry has two wide steps up with handrails. There are two front loading washing machines and tumble dryers. The three sinks are all about 3'6" high.

The chemical disposal point, with associated water taps for cleaning, are at about waist height and uncovered. All the water points on the site have two taps, again at about waist height with grills for dirty water and washing.

The electric hook-up points are all clearly marked and adjacent to the relevant pitches.

Dogs are welcome at Fforest Fields and we have two areas on the site where you can let them off the lead, accessed off the hardcore road. There is plenty of walking off directly from the site, much available on the farm roads and tracks.

There is no bus service from the campsite. Telephone numbers for local taxi firms are available and displayed in the telephone box.

Telephone reception is sporadic at Fforest Fields, we get good reception with T Mobile, Vodaphone but very patchy with Orange.

There is a payphone on site.

Television reception is limited but we have high-gain aerials that you are welcome to borrow for a donation to the Wales Air Ambulance.

George and Katie have completed a Welcome Host course and attained Gold Standard.
