Air ambulance at Fforest Fields

Some of the sharper eyed of you might have seen that our Pic of the Week has just changed to show the Air Ambulance landing at Fforest Fields. One of our visitors had an accident while reversing to hitch up, the emergency services were amazing.

Within a very few minutes the rapid response paramedic was here and dealing with Maggy, shortly after the Air Ambulance and the Ambulance arrived at the same time. Maggy was in Hereford Hospital within half an hour of the incident. Hereford is 35 miles from us! The good news is that she was released later that afternoon and apart from a very sore leg, appears not to have done any further damage to herself. It is reassuring to know that, remote as we are, the emergency services are swiftly here and situations are dealt with quickly. Of course the helicopter’s arrival caused a great stir on the site, many people were not aware that anything had happened before it flew over.

Many of you will know that we donate all money given to us for the hire of the aerials to the local Air Ambulance charity; this amounted to about £700 last year. While Maggy’s injuries were not life threatening, a very close friend of ours has had his life saved twice by the rapid response of the AA and his delivery quickly to hospital.
