Finishes as it started!

It snowed again today! We had snow at Easter.......rained nearly all summer then snow again today to finish off the season, what a year!   It's been horrid, wet snow but it has settled above about 1,000 feet and Radnor Fforest at the far end of the valley is completely white and covered.

On Sunday George and I went for a favourite walk in the Elan Valley, up the old railway line from the second main dam. We parked next to the river and then walked over the bridge and up past the gushing, tumbling, overflowing dam. It was a dank afternoon, with the sun trying to break through. Quite different from the last time we went up there when the sun was shining brightly. We walked up to the next and last dam. It really is one of the best places to go to. We met about six other couples doing the walk the opposite way and everyone stopped and said hello, we then passed them on the way back. By the time we got back to the car it was quite dark because of the time change. The dogs love it, strangely they don't go in the water....it's as if they know that it is deep and they just don't bother, but they love chasing through the bracken and up and down the banks.

It was a lovely warm afternoon and we both got quite hot while we were out.    What a change can happen in twenty four hours! Today it has been bitterly cold, with a beastly north easterly blowing, as the weatherman said, straight from the Arctic, don't we know it!!  Dear old Fforest Farm is not the warmest of houses, perched on top of a hill catching the winds from all directions.

What is amazing is that we have brave souls on the campsite still ! They must be mad Wink Mind you, they are probably warmer than us with their central heating on in the caravans.....at least they don't have to carry wood!

Extra woollies and thermals are being dusted off as I write! It must be cold out there as the snow is still on the tops......AND we now have no water coming into the house! It's probably a frog or leaf in the system, George and Will are tracking it down now.... The downside of drinking beautiful, fresh, clean water!

Trish, if you are registered and logged in, then you can change the background colours of the pages to suit your mood. Under the "Home" menu item are several colour options (that only appear when logged in). So you can choose any one of the colour variations to suit yourself.
