Films and new Picture of the Month!
Please go to our home page and take a look at the new film! The Keep Me Company production (aka Jessie - keeping it in the family!) was made over the last few weeks of the summer. We are very grateful to all who so readily agreed to take part in it; we hope that it gives you a little flavour of Fforest Fields.
At the same time as uploading that onto our site we realised that the 'pic of the week' had really become a 'pic of the last few months'! So we have now put up a new one. I love it, showing that all types of animal life can enjoy our lakes!
It's been a busy summer for us. We have really noticed that there have been more people visiting; not just for a few nights but many staying for seven or fourteen. One intrepid family stayed for the whole of August! We want to take this opportunity, as we try to at the end of the busy period, to thank you all for coming. Choosing Fforest Fields makes us feel very humble and we hope that you enjoy your stay with us. We might not be the most modern site with all mod cons but we do try to bring some old fashioned values to your stay with us. This year we have purposely tried to keep the numbers of visitors down over the bank holiday. We know that it is a time when many relish the thought that they can stay for an extra night but we feel that the quality of your stay with us is more important than the quantity of people we have on site.
As always we have met some wonderful people, made new friends and I hope not many enemies! I was asked the other day what I most enjoyed about running the site and it was an easy answer to give, meeting people.
The new all weather pitches seem to have been a hit. We shall be making a few more for next season, although we promise not to cover the site in them! They have made a huge difference to our lives, no more worries about a large tent being on one pitch for more than a few days.
Highlights of the year? The otter has to rank amongst the top, the absolutely magnificent, Great Diving Beetle found by Alexander and Richard. The peace and quiet and stars on the few nights that we were able to see them; gentle smoke rising in the moonlight and a fellow next to me in the darkness saying 'this is beautiful' as he thought I was a fellow camper!
Can you have 'Lowlights' of the year? Defo the great computer crash of 2009, two days before the bank holiday - round of clapping please for choosing the BEST time to die! Hooray for wonderful Harry and his insistance that I have everything backed up. We have noticed that some of your bookings have gone down a 'black hole' but we muddled through!
Hundred House Show tomorrow - photographs to follow.
