About time too!

It's been a busy couple of weeks for us here and we have had the great pleasure of welcoming back old friends and watching new ones catch the spirit of Fforest Fields.

Easter was forecast to be pretty miserable four days before the weekend and we had quite a few cancellations but with only a bit of rain we had the most lovely weekend.  It was good to be open again, it seems to have been a particuarly long winter!  What weather we are having at the moment?  It is chilly at night but so beautiful during the day and I know that all of you who have had family and friends caught up in the distruption to the air ways must be relieved to see them returning but the clear blue skies have been pretty special here!

The wifi on the site is  sucessful, althoug slightly limited and we know that we need some boosters. They were to have been done before the start of the season but the wrong sort (internal not external) were sent so we are now just waiting for a time for our super-wifi-expert to come and finish the job. A number of the new photographs on the website and our Ffacebook page have been uploaded while people have been on site, very pleasing!

We do still have some pitches availble for the next bank holiday and a very limited number for the end of May. We have plenty of pitches available on the 31st of May for the following week.

There has been some debate over our limit on when  tents can have electric hook-up before the end of May and to clarify, during busy times, Easter the first May bank holiday and any weekend when we are particularly full we do not have pitches with electric hook-up available for tents.  I know that this might prevent some of you from visiting us and I can understand why but it is nothing new, we have been doing it for three years now and the difference to the loading on the campsite electricity and consequently our peace of mind, has been significent.  The worry of having to call the emergency electricity fellows out in the middle of the night because the main fuse has blown because the system is overloaded by domestic, household heating appliances is not something that we enjoy. The disruption to our visitors is not something they enjoy either, caught in the showers with wet hair over a freezing Easter!!

Last year we also took the decision to limit the number of people that we accept over bank holidays. It might seem to you that we have empty spaces (and we will have!) but we hope that it will enhance the experience of visiting Fforest Fields.  We are also limiting the number of groups over busy times too.  We welcome groups here, there is nothing better on a warm evening that watching friends and families sitting round a log fire chatting. It's what camping is all about!

So, another beautiful morning! A cracking forecast for the weekend...I expect the 'phone to start jumping!

What a brilliant week (so far)
written by Clive Palmer, April 22, 2010
We are having a great time here at Fforest Fields. We arrived last Sunday in sunshine which has stayed with us until now. I have to say that the site, although quiet at present, is probably the most relaxed site and therefore best site we've visited so far. Have walked for miles over the hills, far further than I would do along the flat lanes of Leicestershire. Managed to tear ourselves away from Fforest Fields today and visit the Elan Valley - another great experience.

We are leaving this coming Sunday but shall certainly be returning.

Best wishes
