Summer news!
It’s bin too long! I’ve been nudged and reminded but really I just have not had time to sit for a few minutes and put pen to paper....that’s not true mind you, but when I have had those few minutes I’ve used them to catch up on sleep!
So, what’s been happening in the last month? The wonderful weather of earlier in the season has left us for the time being, although it’s still warm but overcast with some showers, they never seems to last that long though and I don’t think that anyone has cancelled or gone home early because of it. We have still had some wonderful days and perfect evenings to sit out and enjoy a barbeque.
I suppose the big thing since I last wrote has been the Royal Welsh; I think that it went really well this year, although the showground was not as full as I have seen it, in spite of the Golden Shears. Did any of you watch that? It was incredible to see the guys shearing 20 sheep in 11 minutes, without one ‘nick’ of the skin. When we were shearing here we used to have, in the shearing gang, two Welsh Champions, they were wonderful to watch. I think the most we did was about 900 in a day but that was with four or five shearers!
We seem to be very busy over the holidays, several weekends are already full, which is amazing and thank you all and I hope that you enjoy your stay at Fforest Fields.
We are having a bit of blitz on driving too fast on the campsite. It is simply not necessary to drive at 20 mph from one side to the other. It doesn’t get you to your tent or off the site any quicker and just puts children at risk. 10 mph MAX at all times on the site. It’s not hard to drive in first gear, really!
We love people sitting, chatting round campfires, it’s the very essence of happy camping but please remember sound carries so much in the open air, especially on a wind-less night. Later in the evening Just keep your voices down, it’s thoughtful and respectful of other visitors.
So, it’s heads down for us now. We shall pop up again after the Hundred House Show at the beginning of September! We look forward to welcoming you all here. Thank you for your continued support and kind words. We will always have time to stop and chat, answer questions and admire dogs, children, new tents, boats, small wiggly things in buckets and welly boots!
And don't forget you can now follow us on Twitter at fforestfields and become a ffan on Ffacebook at Fforest Fields Caravan and Camping Park
