Spring at Fforest Fields
Early spring is always a positive time of year for us, the ground starts warming up and hints of bright green start to appear on the trees. Our flowers start thinking about coming back, and daffodils emerge all over the farm. We then start to see more of the migratory birds and everything begins to feel alive again after the stillness of winter. By Easter we are starting to welcome back more visitors, although we do occasionally get a late snap back to cold weather and even late snow.
By May Spring has started to really take hold and we see longer evenings, grass growing at an extraordinary rate and more people inclined to swim in our lake. During May the landscape changes dramatically and by the time we reach the second May Bank Holiday and half term on site it can be warm, green and luscious. We even see the reemergence of flip flops that have been stashed in a box under the bed since September.
Be prepared for spring showers and four seasons in one day on the farm, but when it comes out the sun is warm and the carpets of bluebells in the woods is wonderful to see.
