Man Vs. Horse, 8th June 2019

This will be the 40th year where humans will challenge 50+ horses over 24 miles of Welsh countryside. Competitors will encounter a “multi terrain course of energy sapping hills, boggy marsh, rivers, mud and of course not forgetting the awesome sandwiches at the end.”

Entries for the 2019 Man Vs. Horse have now closed, but you are welcome to go an cheer on the humans and horses on Saturday 8th June 2019 in Llanwrtyd Wells which is just 1/2 hour from the campsite. There is always a fab atmosphere in the town.

If a human is victorious they stand to win a whopping £3000, although it has only happened twice before with the first winner scooping £25,000 from the roll-over prize money.

We will have some competitors staying that weekend, so make sure to congratulate them for taking part in this gruelling edge-of-madness event! They will be the ones looking very muddy and smiling ear to ear.

The event began in June 1980 following a chat over a pint (or three) in the back bar of the Neuadd Arms Hotel. The then Landlord, Gordon Green, overheard two men discussing the relative merits of men and horses running over mountainous terrain. The enterprising Gordon, never one to miss an opportunity to promote Llanwrtyd Wells and improve business at his hotel, decided to put it to the test. And so began Green Events and its first, longest standing and now internationally acclaimed event, Man v Horse.
