Fforest Fields is nestled in the middle of our Welsh hill farm, you’ll soon discover the beautiful walks and adventures that can be done straight from your pitch, decking or cottage door. We like to refer to it as adventure walking, because it’s not just about getting from A - B, it’s about the joy of exploring the woods, admiring the views and embracing the challenges - however large or small. We love walking around here, it’s always an adventure!
You are welcome to walk anywhere on our farm and then out onto the Aberedw Hill behind. If you are looking for walks off site then there is breathtaking scenery all around. From the reservoirs of The Elan Valley and Cambrian Mountains to the rolling Shropshire hills. We are also only 30 minutes from the Brecon Beacons and Black Mountains. Walks abound in every direction and some of them even end up at a pub!
Other Good Local Walks and Trails
It would be a lifetime’s work to list all the walks in the area, but here are a few special designated walks for those looking to get a flavour of what mid-Wales has to offer.
The Wye Valley Walk
An easy-grade, continuous walking trail that traces the River Wye from Chepstow to Rhayader, for the more adventurous it then continues to the source of the river near Pumlumon in the Cambrian Mountains above Aberystwyth.
This National Trail is in the Cambrian Mountains and is dedicated to the 15th Century Welsh Warrior. The 135-mile route takes you through rolling farmland and ancient forests, past reservoirs and open moorland with extraordinary views.
The Severn Way Walk
This waymarked route goes from the source of the River Severn, all the way to the estuary near Bristol. Passing through Llanidloes and Newtown, you can find great sections to explore during your stay at Fforest Fields.
The Brecon Beacons
The Brecon Beacons hardly need an introduction, these famous peaks are home to hundreds of great walks – some very tough, others meandering past mountain streams and offering stunning views after a short ramble from your car.
